Scope & Content |
Handwritten letter dated Portland November 21, 1852 from Andrew Leonard Emerson to his uncle. It is not specified which uncle he speaks to, but he makes mention of an Aunt Harriet, possibly intended for her husband. Handwriting looks like it is Leonard's wife Frances "Fannie" (Phillips) Emerson writing for her husband, hence the address "uncle" and "aunt." In this letter Leonard mentions not being able to visit, but that he hopes next time he does it will be with his wife. He encloed $30 with this letter, and sends best wishes to "Aunt Harriet."
