Scope & Content |
A black, Russia leather covered 1868 diary. It begins with information found in an almanac such as calenders, astronomy, postal rates, tide charts etc. Those pages are then followed by blank pages, some of which have been written on. There are notes about the diarists daily movements such as taking the train to Boston, spending the day in Biddeford, spending the day at home. There are also observations of the weather and notes on the day's activities such as going to town meetings, attending church, visiting with friends, financial transactions etc. It is believed that the diarist is Joseph Bragdon Jr., however, this cannot be documented. In the back pouch, there is a newspaper clipping of the obituary of Joseph Bragdon Jr. |
