Description |
Wall-mounted bottle opener from The Emerson Hotel and Cottages, York Harbor, Maine. In existence from 1916-1964, the business was known by this name from 1927 to 1950 . Inverted L-shaped cast iron with two openings. Four holes drilled at corners for mounting on a wall with screws. Engraved, "The / Emerson / and / Cottages". No maker's mark. The Emerson Hotel was bought by Frank Dennett Marshall (1870- 1949) for Marshall House guests after the fire of 1916. It was managed by Gilman Lafayette Moulton (1875-1953) with the Marshall House from 1917-1940. Managed by Edward Walker Marshall (1905-1992) from 1948-1968. Demolished in 1972. St. George Episcopal Church moved to site. |
